Ghajini - Music Review

Ghajini is one of the most awaited flicks of 2008. Aamir welcomes 2008 in a grand manner with the music Taare Zameen Par and as the year closes by, he has made it more grandeur with Ghajini. The music of Ghajini falls in the same line of Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Naa, Jodhaa Akbar, Yuvvraaj and Ada. If Prasoon Joshi penned any lyrics then it is bound to be fabulous and same here for Ghajini. The lyrics are up to the mark. Like the storyline, Aamir works hard on music also. He wants the music to be ear-soothing and appealing, apt to be heard repeated number of times.Now coming to another most important department of music i.e. music composition. When Aamir Khan and music maestro AR Rehman come together, some miracle always happens and the prove is Rang De Basanti, Lagaan: Once Upon A Time In India and Rangeela. Let’s see if the duo been able to keep the success formula constant or just break the old record of producing chartbusters. Ghajini has altogether five songs; each one is situational and is of different tastes. Romantic, foot tapping number and fast track are all included in this album. The introductory song 'Guzarish' by Javed Ali and 'guest vocalist’ Sonu Niigaam is soft and romantic. AR Rehman has achieved mastery over composing romantic number and this time also he has kept his promise and has been successful in composing an ear-soothing track. After Javed Ali crooned 'Jashn-E-Bahara'(Jodhaa Akbar), he became the hot favorite of many music composers and AR Rehman is one among them. He has done full justice to the song and on hearing one would definitely fall for it.The second track of the flick ‘Kaise Mujhe’ by Benny Dayal as male singer and Shreya Ghoshal as female singer is exceptional and proved that AR Rehman and Prasoon Joshi’s combination is outstanding. The lyrics touch your heart and the sound is rhythmic. The track makes you love your soul mate to the outmost. It is a song which every lover will wish to play from his loved ones. The musical instrument which includes ‘sitar’, ‘tabla’ added regional flavor to it.The third track 'Aye Bachchu' by Suzanne comes as a massive shock. It has English words inserted in Hindi sentences but sorry to say the album is not up to the mark and will not make to the chartbuster. This song is really disappointing as it has no thrill and one would never expect such type of disaster from music maestro Rehman and ace lyricist Prasoon Joshi. This track has lower down the glory of the album. ‘Latoo’ crooned by the second nightingale of India, Shreya Ghoshal is good to hear. The song is a combination of hip hop and soft. Basically, Sunidhi Chauhan’s is best known to deliver such type of jazzy track but Shreya is also not bad choice, she has proved her versatility and prowess of singing all types of song. Hats off to Shreya for this good effort as well as good outcome. The last and final track of the film ‘Behka’ has been crooned by Karthik. Rehman has full faith in him and thus bestowed on him the responsibility of singing this soulful song and Karthik has done full justice to it. Full credit goes to Karthik.On the whole, the song of Ghajini is youngish, refreshing and entertaining. We can say, the album of Ghajini is worth buying. Even if it does not steal your mind, it will garner your attention and you can’t help hearing it repeatedly.
